Nothing says summer quite like spending the day by the pool. At Wesley Trevento Apartments in Lithia Springs, GA, residents can enjoy resort-style amenities without ever leaving home. Whether you're relaxing with a good book, spending time with friends, or simply soaking up the sunshine, being prepared makes every pool day even better.

Here's everything you'll want to pack before heading to the pool this season.

Your Pool Day Essentials Checklist

Sunscreen

Protecting your skin is one of the most important parts of any day outdoors. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and remember to reapply every two hours, especially after swimming.

A Reusable Water Bottle

Georgia summers can be hot. Staying hydrated helps you feel your best while enjoying time outside. Bring an insulated water bottle to keep your drinks cold throughout the day.

Sunglasses & a Hat

Shield your eyes and face from the sun with UV-protective sunglasses and a wide-brim hat or baseball cap.

Beach Towel

A large, soft towel is perfect for drying off or relaxing poolside between swims.

Your Favorite Book, Podcast, or Playlist

Whether you're catching up on a bestselling novel, listening to your favorite podcast, or enjoying your summer playlist, entertainment makes every pool day even more relaxing.

Healthy Snacks

Pack easy summer favorites like fresh fruit, trail mix, granola bars, or veggies with hummus to keep your energy up throughout the afternoon.

Comfortable Sandals

Slip-on sandals or flip-flops make it easy to move comfortably between your apartment and the pool deck.

Waterproof Phone Pouch

Keep your phone protected from water while still being able to take photos, answer calls, or stream your favorite music.

Pool Safety Tips

A relaxing pool day is also a safe one. Keep these reminders in mind:

  • Stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Take breaks in the shade to avoid overheating.
  • Never run on wet pool decks.
  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Follow all posted community pool guidelines to help everyone enjoy the space.

Summer in Lithia Springs brings warm Georgia weather that is great for getting outside and enjoying the season, but it can also mean your air conditioner is working overtime from morning to night. Staying cool is a must, but there is no reason for your energy bill to spiral along with the temperature. At Wesley Trevento Apartments, we want every resident to feel at home and at ease all summer long. Here are some of our favorite practical tips to help you stay comfortable and keep your energy costs manageable this season.

1. Set Your Thermostat with a Plan

One of the most impactful things you can do for your energy bill this summer is to be thoughtful about how you use your thermostat. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends keeping it set to 78°F when you are home and raising it a few degrees when you head out or settle in for the night. For every degree you increase the setting, you can save up to 3% on your cooling costs.

If your apartment has a programmable or smart thermostat, create a schedule that fits your typical day so your AC is not running at full power when no one is home to enjoy it.

2. Put Your Ceiling Fans to Good Use

Ceiling fans are one of the simplest and most affordable ways to feel cooler during the summer months. They do not change the actual temperature in a room, but the airflow they create produces a wind chill effect that makes the space feel several degrees cooler. That means you can comfortably raise your thermostat setting by about 4°F without feeling the difference.

For the best results in summer, check that your fan is spinning counterclockwise so it pushes cool air downward. Remember to turn it off when you leave the room since fans cool the people in a space, not the space itself.

3. Use Your Window Coverings to Block the Heat

Windows are one of the primary ways heat enters your apartment, especially on south and west facing sides where the afternoon sun hits hardest. During peak hours, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., keep your blinds, curtains, or shades closed to stop solar heat from warming up your living space.

Thermal drapes or blackout curtains are a worthwhile investment that can noticeably reduce how warm your apartment gets during the day. They take a real load off your AC and help your home stay cooler with less effort.

4. Think About When You Run Your Appliances

Ovens, dryers, dishwashers, and other everyday appliances release heat as they operate, which can raise the temperature in your apartment and make your AC work harder. A few small adjustments to when and how you use them can make a meaningful difference.

On the hottest days, skip the oven and cook with a microwave, slow cooker, or air fryer instead. Save your laundry and dishwasher cycles for the cooler hours of the evening or early morning. Switching to LED bulbs is a quick and easy change that also helps since they produce significantly less heat than traditional incandescent options. Finally, make it a habit to unplug chargers and idle electronics when they are not in active use because they generate heat and draw power even in standby mode.

5. Inspect Your Home for Air Leaks

When cool air leaks out through gaps around windows and doors, your AC has to run longer and work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature inside. Walk around your apartment and check the edges of your windows and the bottoms of exterior doors for any drafts or visible openings.

If you notice anything that needs attention, our maintenance team at Wesley Trevento is ready to help. Submit a request and we will address it promptly. In the meantime, a simple draft stopper placed at the base of a door is an easy and inexpensive way to reduce air loss right away.

6. Let Fresh Air In During the Cooler Parts of the Day

Your AC does not have to carry the full burden every hour of the day. On cooler mornings and evenings, usually before 8 a.m. and after 8 p.m., open your windows to bring in fresh air and give your system a chance to rest. Opening windows on opposite sides of your apartment encourages a natural cross breeze that refreshes the space without drawing any energy at all.

Once the outdoor temperature climbs above the temperature inside your apartment, close your windows back up and let the AC take it from there for the rest of the day.

7. Stay on Top of Your AC Filter

A clogged or dirty air filter makes your AC unit strain to push air through your apartment, which drives up energy use and can lower the quality of air in your home over time. During the summer months, make it a habit to check your filter every month and replace it every one to three months depending on how much use it gets.

If you are unsure about your filter or have any questions about your HVAC system, the maintenance team at Wesley Trevento is always happy to assist. Just reach out and we will take care of it.

8. Seek Out the Coolest Spots in Your Home

Not all areas of your apartment heat up at the same rate. Heat rises naturally, and rooms with a lot of direct sun exposure warm up faster than interior or shaded spaces. During the peak heat hours of the afternoon, spend time in the naturally cooler parts of your home and keep your interior doors open so cool air from your AC can flow evenly throughout the entire apartment.

Stay Cool and Comfortable at Wesley Trevento

A cool, comfortable apartment all summer long is absolutely within reach. With a handful of simple, intentional habits you can reduce your energy use, protect your monthly budget, and enjoy everything that Lithia Springs has to offer this season without missing a beat.

Whenever you need to unwind or connect with neighbors, our community amenities are right here waiting for you. And if you ever have a maintenance concern or a question about your home, the Wesley Trevento team is always here and happy to help.

Here is to a cool, worry free, and energy smart summer from everyone at Wesley Trevento Apartments!

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and that means summer in the Atlanta metro is officially open for business. Whether you’re planning a long weekend adventure, soaking up the season at nearby parks, or splashing around at our sparkling pool right on property, your calendar is about to fill up fast. Here’s everything happening around Wesley Trevento this summer.

Memorial Day Weekend: What’s Nearby

Living in Lithia Springs puts you in one of the best spots in the metro when it comes to holiday weekend fun. From world-class thrills to peaceful nature escapes, you won’t have to go far.

Six Flags Over Georgia

Just minutes away in Austell, Six Flags kicks off its summer season with Memorial Day deals — up to 50% off tickets and passes. With over 45 rides ranging from family-friendly attractions to adrenaline-pumping roller coasters like Dare Devil Dive and The Great American Scream Machine, there’s something for every thrill level. Hurricane Harbor Atlanta is also open for summer splashes inside the park, making it a full day of fun for residents of all ages.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Right up the road, this stunning park is one of Georgia’s most beloved natural escapes — and it’s just minutes from home. A wooded trail follows the creek to the ruins of a Civil War-era textile mill, with rocky bluffs and scenic rapids along the way. During warmer months the park rents canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and pedal boats on the George Sparks Reservoir, making it perfect for a relaxed Memorial Day on the water.

Lithia Springs Park

Just down the road on Sweetwater Road, this local gem is a great low-key option for families. Batting cages, baseball and softball fields, and a playground make it an easy, no-fuss outing for a laid-back holiday weekend.

Arbor Place Mall & Beyond

Memorial Day sales are in full swing at Arbor Place Mall, Cumberland Mall, and The Battery Atlanta — all a short drive away. Stock up on summer gear, grab a meal, or catch a game before the season heats up in earnest.

A Whole Summer Worth of Things to Do

Once Memorial Day kicks things off, the fun doesn’t stop. The Lithia Springs and Douglasville area stays lively through Labor Day with something for every pace and personality.

Nature lovers will want to make Sweetwater Creek a regular weekend spot. The trails range from easy strolls to full-day hikes through diverse Georgia forest, and the reservoir is open seasonally for fishing, boating, and paddleboarding. The park has also served as a filming location for major Hollywood productions — including The Hunger Games and Avengers: Infinity War — making it one of the most photogenic green spaces in the state.

Thrill seekers have an easy commute to Six Flags, which runs signature summer events and live entertainment all season long. Families and groups can also catch shows at nearby Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre in Mableton, which hosts outdoor concerts and performances throughout the summer months.

And if an easy evening out is more your speed, head to Douglasville’s downtown along Campbellton Street for dining, local shops, and rotating events at the Cultural Arts Council — a genuinely charming spot that many residents don’t discover until they’ve lived here awhile.

Your Pool Is Ready — and So Is the Season

Of course, sometimes the best summer day is the one you spend right here at home. Wesley Trevento’s sparkling swimming pool is your warm-weather retreat — a peaceful, well-maintained space to decompress, cool off after a long day, or simply enjoy the Georgia sunshine without going anywhere.

Our pool area is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM and kept in top shape by our responsive maintenance team. Whether you’re a morning lap swimmer or an afternoon lounger, there’s space and time for both.

Pro tip: beat the holiday crowds at Six Flags by spending Memorial Day weekend right here — grill out, float around the pool, and save the park for a quieter summer weekday. You’re close enough to make it easy either way.

Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a great one here in Lithia Springs. Between the thrills at Six Flags, the trails at Sweetwater Creek, and everything in between — Wesley Trevento puts you right in the middle of it all. We hope you have an incredible Memorial Day weekend and a summer full of moments worth remembering.
